"For those feeling painting is just too challenging and have been convinced they simply don't possess the "natural ability" - either by themselves, or from others.  Instead, try thinking of it as a simple process of elimination.  Like most skills, learning what not to do actually does teach us more than anything.  And your skill only improves when keeping at it making regular "mistakes", experimenting what works for you or not, etc.  Much like a dedicated scientist or inventor, painters are actually most successful when teetering on the edge of failure.  Only when one is pushing their personal limits, diving into unfamiliar, uncomfortable territory, are we truly painting at our full potential.  A painter will never achieve greatness playing it safe."
